Mikhail G Kolonin is an Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Metabolic and Degenerative Diseases at the University of Texas in Houston. As a Ph.D. from Wayne State University, he pioneered the concept of expressing peptides disrupting protein interactions in animals. As a Postdoctoral fellow at MD Anderson Cancer Center, he screened combinatorial libraries to identify druggable cell surface markers. Based on this approach, he has invented experimental therapeutics for obesity and cancer. He is an Author of over 60 publications and has editorial positions with Molecular Carcinogenesis and Cancer Research. He is endowed with a Distinguished University Chair in Metabolic Disease Research.

Gerald C. Hsu received an honorable PhD in mathematics and majored in engineering at MIT. He attended different universities over 17 years and studied seven academic disciplines. He has spent 20,000 hours in T2D research. First, he studied six metabolic diseases and food nutrition during 2010-2013, then conducted research during 2014-2018. His approach is “math-physics and quantitative medicine” based on mathematics, physics, engineering modeling, signal processing, computer science, big data analytics, statistics, machine learning, and AI. As a long-term researcher in endocrine and metabolic diseases, Professor Xiao has published over 50 papers in core Chinese and foreign periodicals such as Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism (JCEM), Brain Research, etc. Moreover, he took the lead in treating Graves’ diseases by introducing thyroid arterial embolization, and for the first time ever, he reported relevant findings of using innovative methods to treat Graves’ diseases in the prestigious Journal of JCEM. His clinical treatments of American and British patients with stubborn hyperthyroidism have been proved very successful and specially reported by CNN, causing profound international resonance. In June of 2012, he published another academic thesis “Circulating MicroRNA Profiles as Potential Biomarkers for Diagnosis of Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma” in JCEM which has received high attention and positive response among medical scientists home and abroad.

Emilio Herrera is PhD from Complutense University (Madrid), Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Faculties of Pharmacy and Medicine, University San Pablo-CEU in Madrid, Spain and Doctor Honoris Causa in Medicine by Lund University (Sweden). He carried out his Post-doctoral studies in Harvard University and Northwestern University Medical Schools. He has 282 peer-reviewed papers with IF (total IF by JCR-2009, 755.20) and 77 book chapters, having a h-index of 37 and has directed 49 PhD thesis.

While heading a Medical college devoted to Diabetes education as Principal, triply post graduate in Medicine (MD), Nutrition (PGDND) and Radiology (DMRE), 64 years old Dr. Lakshmi K Shankhdhar, holds the credit of establishing North India’s first exclusive Diabetes Clinic in Lucknow, India. He is the fourth Indian to receive Wockhardt-Harvard Medical Excellence Award and Visiting Fellowship of Harvard Medical International, the International Arm of Harvard Medical School (Boston). He has presented several abstracts and Faculty orations in many International conferences on Diabetes and Podiatry, besides chairing some International conferences. Dr. Rasouli received her MD degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Her internal medicine residency training was at Michigan State University, Lansing, MI and she completed her endocrinology fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, AR, in 2002. Dr. Rasouli joined the faculty at the University of Colorado, Denver in 2009. She is a physician and a translational researcher at the University of Colorado and Eastern Colorado Veterans Health Care System. Dr. Rasouli has special interest in the management and treatment of patients with diabetes and metabolic disorders associated with obesity. Her research interests include studying the pathophysiology of insulin resistance particularly molecular mechanisms involved in adipose tissue inflammation and lipotoxicity associated with obesity and insulin resistance. In addition, Dr. Rasouli is leading several clinical trials to investigate novel therapeutic interventions in the management of diabetes.

Dr. Curtis Triplitt is currently at the Texas Diabetes Institute in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Curtis Triplitt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Diabetes as well as holding the appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy with the Clinical Pharmacy Program at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Curtis Triplitt is an investigator in multiple research studies in the field of diabetes, has published several book chapters on diabetes, and in such peer-reviewed journals as Diabetes Care, Diabetes Spectrum, Pharmacotherapy, and Drugs. He also clinically manages and educates people with diabetes with an endocrinologist, and is a Certified Diabetes Educator. In his role as Secretary on the governor-appointed Texas Diabetes Council, Dr. Curtis Triplitt has been involved with the development of multiple clinical treatment algorithms for the prevention and treatment of diabetes in the State of Texas.
